Henna
Traditionally Henna is used for all special occasions be they Islamic or cultural. Henna comes in a variety of colors and mediums. My daughters, specially Rahmah, love henna designs. They use henna 'cones' which are filled with pre-prepared henna specially formulated for use on the hands and feet. The tip is designed with a tiny pin hole to make it possible for anyone to make lovely and delicate designs. Using henna is a sunnah for the hair and beard as well. The most common is red henna, but golden and black are available as well. We do not sell black henna because it is haram to color the hair black. Henna is available in several forms. The cone is a plastic cone with a tiny hole used for designs. Open is fresher henna, cleaned and ground. You soak it and add whatever you want for color and smell changes. For example, henna soaked in a boiled infusion of Cloves & Cinnamon will be redder and carry a light scent of Cloves & cinnamon. Henna soaked in a boiled infusion of Chamomile & turmeric will be more golden and carry a different scent.
*A tip for henna on hands and feet. Boil 1/2 cup of water adding 1 cup of sugar and a squeeze of lemon. Using a clean cotton ball, dab the cool mixture on the dry henna on your hands and feet. The henna will stay on longer and will not chip off. The henna designs will last longer and attain a darker color, in sha Allah.
